The media got a preview of PUDYA with guest dancers including Ismael Bangoura from Montreal specializing in acrobatic dance performing with the NAfro Dancers & Musicians. NAfro Dance Productions and Artistic Director Casimiro Nhussi presents PUDYA Saturday Feb. 28th at 8pm Sunday Mar. 1st at 2pm & 7pm at the Gas Station Arts Centre. It will be an evening of percussion, chants and highly energetic African inspired movement as well as rhythm driven choreographies. Pudya was inspired by the Makonde people’s traditional ceremony of communicating with ancestors. At this ceremony, they chant and dance invoking the spirits of their ancestors to ask for help and good guidance in their lives. Wayne Glowacki/Winnipeg Free Press Feb.26 2015
